How does SynerTel eFolder Work?

eFolder installs a small client software application on the computer to manage all of the data protection and restoration. After the data you want to protect is easily identified, eFolder encrypts, compresses and transfers this data to an eFolder data center.

During the 10-minute setup, the user chooses a password and a passphrase. The password protects access to the account and the passphrase protects the data. The unique passphrase becomes part of the eFolder encryption algorithm. Each time a file is changed, eFolder detects the change, encrypts and compresses the revision, and sends it to an eFolder data center to be stored with the master copy of the file. Unlike our competition, the user determines what files and folders to back up. Different backup procedures can be defined on a file-by-file basis. eFolder does not care if the file is located on the computer or somewhere else on the network. Just point and shoot – eFolder does the rest!

One workstation can manage and control backups for multiple users.

Our easy-to-use system is flexible in:

  • how often to back up (daily, hourly, end of shift, etc.);
  • how many previous versions of the data are kept – with different policies for different types of data.

Because only the data changes (deltas) are stored, very small amounts of storage are used to maintain many versions. eFolder can even help when data is destroyed by mistake – because eFolder maintains copies of deleted files for a period of time. This allows recovery from accidental deletions or overwrite errors.

This valuable feature will come in very handy one day – guaranteed! You can also run eFolder software to local media allowing you to have TWO backups – a local copy, and the eFolder remotely stored and secured one.

How Does eFolder Restore Data?
The eFolder client has all the capabilities to restore valuable data when and where it’s needed. Just launch the eFolder Restore Wizard and follow the simple directions.
