Most converged communication and network equipment requires a true external UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply). These come in many grades from “continuously generate clean sine-wave power 100% of the time” to “wake up after the power has already failed and snap on battery backup with a noisy but cheaper-to-generate sawtooth power wave”. Some phone systems we sell can use external battery packs, which are very cost effective – because the phone system itself handles battery charging and management.
